Lindsay Maxsted is a Director of Westpac Banking Corporation, Director of Transurban Group, Director of Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute and is a Senior Advisor to Lazard Australia. Lindsay was formally a Partner at KPMG and was the CEO of that firm from 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2007. His principal area of practice prior to his becoming CEO was in the Corporate Recovery field managing a number of Australia’s largest insolvency/ workout/turnaround engagements including Linter Textiles (companies associated with Abraham Goldberg); Bell Group; Bond Brewing; McEwans Hardware and Brashs. He is also a former Director and Chairman of the Victorian Public Transport Corporation.

        
Dr SAM PRINCE
'Social Entrepreneur'


As one of Australia’s Top 30 under 30’s, Sam’s entrepreneurial endeavours began while studying medicine when he opened Mexican restaurant, Zambrero Fresh Mex Gill, which currently has franchises throughout Australia. He also owns a graphic design company and together these businesses make more than $1 million a year. Following the success of his entrepreneurial endeavours, Dr Prince created the Emagine foundation, a non-profit organisation with the global goal of providing Information Technology (IT) infrastructure to rural and remote areas in developing nations. Along with his business endeavours Sam Prince is a full-time doctor and is involved in number of philanthropy and voluntary projects.
 

STEPHEN MAYNE

Stephen Mayne is a Walkley Award winning business journalist and one of Australia’s most outspoken campaigners for better corporate governance. The force behind
www.crikey.com.au, Australia’s best known independent internet magazine, Stephen’s latest venture is www.maynereport.com, a multi-media newsletter on corporate governance.

As Australia’s best known shareholder activist, Stephen claims to have ‘the world’s biggest small share portfolio’ with tiny investments in more than 700 Australian companies - so he can ask questions at dozens of AGMs. Stephen has also been a regular business commentator on ABC radio for almost 10 years and a guest presenter on 774 ABC Melbourne. Since November 2008 Stephen has been a local government councillor in the City of Manningham in Melbourne where he serves on the audit committee.


ROD WINTERS
General Manager Finance Operations, Microsoft USA & Chairman, IIA Global


Rod Winters has more than 26 years of professional experience, including 15 years in the internal audit field, and was recently named General Manager of Financial Operations for the Microsoft Corporation. Until recently, he was the General Auditor, overseeing Microsoft’s Internal Audit group. Prior to joining
Microsoft, Rod spent 11 years with Deloitte & Touche, with his most recent position as the director of marketing and communications for the Seattle office.

Rod Winters is currently the global Chairman of The IIA and a member of the Executive Committee and Global Nominating Committee.

DR CHRIS CATON
Chief Economist, BT Financial Group

Chris Caton is the Chief Economist for BT Financial Group. He was Chief Economist at Bankers Trust from 1991 until July 1999. From 1994 to 1997, he was also Chairman of the Indicative Planning Council, which advised the Government on matters relating to the housing industry. Previously he worked in the Treasury, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and for an economic consulting firm in the United States. Chris was educated at the University of Adelaide and the University of Pennsylvania.

  TONY JONES
Journalist, ABC

One of the ABC’s most experienced and respected journalists, with more than 20 years experience in radio and television news and current affairs. Tony Jones has been hosting the award winning news
and current affairs program, Lateline since 1999. He has also reported for Four Corners, Foreign Correspondent, and other TV and radio current affairs programs.

He has collected respected awards for
reports such as ‘Horses for Courses‘ on the Waterhouse racing dynasty (Walkley), ’My City of Sydney‘ on the city’s development boom (Penguin), and ’Frozen Asset‘ on the exploitation of Antarctica (Gold Medal, New York Film and Television Festival).

TONY D’ALOISIO
Chairman, Australian Securities and Investments Commission


Tony D’Aloisio became ASIC Chairman in 2007 after holding the position of ASIC Commissioner since November 2006. He is also currently a member of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) Technical Committee and Executive Committee and he became Chairman of the Joint Forum in 2010 for a two-year term. Before joining ASIC, he was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Stock Exchange and prior to this he was Chief Executive Partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques.

In addition to practising law, Mr D’Aloisio held a number of management and business positions within Mallesons involving assessment of markets across Asia, USA and UK.

STEFANO GIORGINI MIIA(AUST)
Vice-President Risk Management & Assurance, BHP Billiton

Stefano joined the BHP Billiton Group in 1982 and was appointed to his current role in June 2003. He was previously Vice-President and Chief Development
Officer Carbon Steel Materials, President BHP Iron Ore and prior to this held commercial/financial roles within the Iron Ore, Copper and Steel businesses, as well as Marketing roles. He has been based both internationally and across most states of Australia. He is Chairman of BHP Billiton Marine & General
Insurance Pty Ltd, an APRA regulated entity, an audit committee member for the Victorian Department of Transport, and also a national board director for the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia.

DAVID ELDON
Chairman, Dubai International Financial Centre & former Chairman, HSBC Asia Pacific

David Eldon has over 40 years commercial banking experience. He is a former director of HSBC Holdings plc and was Chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) at the time of his retirement in 2005.

In addition to his current role with the DIFC, he is a director of the Noble Group, the largest diversified commodity trader in Asia, sits as the South Korean President’s Adviser on the Presidential Council of the National Competitiveness, is Chairman of the Kuwait China
Investment Company’s Advisory Committee and has a number of other boards and government appointments.

NEIL LINWOOD 
Chief Financial Officer, Carnival Australia
 
Neil Linwood has been with Carnival Australia since 2000. Currently, as Chief Financial Officer he is responsible for the financial management and direction of the cruise business in Australia. Neil is a key partner to the CEO and member of the Executive Team and provides leadership and strategic direction to the business. His direct responsibilities include finance, information technology, supply chain and corporate governance.

Prior to working at Carnival Australia Neil worked abroad at a number of large multinational companies including Hilton International (Singapore), Pepsi Cola Corporation (UK, Kenya, South Africa) and Bank of America (UK).

 
MARK PESCE
Inventor, Writer, Educator and Futurist


Known internationally as the man who fused virtual reality with the World Wide Web and invented VRML, Mark Pesce has been exploring the frontiers of media and technology for a quarter of a century. He holds an appointment as an Honorary Associate in the Digital Cultures programme at the University of Sydney, chaired the Emerging Media and Interactive Design Program at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, is the founder of the media and technology consultancy ‘FutureSt’ and the author of five books and numerous articles. Mark is also a panelist on the hit ABC show The New Inventors.
